Terms of Service

MyFirstRole is built for college students and recent graduates searching for their first professional role. To create an account you must be at least 16 years old, capable of forming a binding contract, and either currently enrolled at or a recent graduate of an accredited educational institution, or otherwise eligible under our verification process (see Section 3).

You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide during registration and verification, and for keeping your account credentials confidential. You're responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

MyFirstRole helps students discover employers who are actively hiring entry-level talent, track hiring signals, build and tailor resumes with AI assistance grounded in evidence you provide, and send outreach messages to company contacts. Depending on what you connect, the Service may also:

• Send outreach email on your behalf through a Gmail or Outlook account you explicitly connect and authorize.
• With your separate, off-by-default opt-in, check whether an outreach thread you sent through the Service received a reply, without storing the reply's text (see our Privacy Policy).
• Read your public GitHub repository data, if you connect GitHub, to surface verified technical evidence for your resume and outreach — always read-only; we never write to, modify, or create anything in your GitHub account.
• Use AI models (including third-party providers) to draft resume language, outreach emails, and hiring-signal summaries. AI outputs are drafts — you're responsible for reviewing and editing anything before you send or rely on it.

We verify that accounts belong to real students or recent graduates. A university (.edu-equivalent) email address is verified automatically. Any other email requires a proof document (such as a student ID, enrollment letter, or transcript excerpt), which is reviewed manually. We may reject or request additional proof at our discretion, and we may suspend or terminate accounts that misrepresent their eligibility.

Where enabled, we may also require you to confirm that you own the email address on your account (a distinct step from student eligibility verification) before granting full access to the Service.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to send spam, harassing, deceptive, or unlawful messages to company contacts or anyone else.
• Misrepresent your identity, your eligibility as a student or recent graduate, or the content of your profile, resume, or outreach.
• Attempt to access another user's account, data, or connected integrations without authorization.
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or systematically extract data from the Service beyond your own account's normal use.
• Use the Service to build a competing product, or interfere with its normal operation (including rate limits and security controls).
• Upload content you don't have the right to share, or that infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy.

We may suspend or terminate access for any violation of these Terms, at our discretion, with or without notice where reasonably necessary to protect the Service or other users.

You retain ownership of the content you provide — your resume, transcript, essays, profile details, and anything else you upload ("Your Content"). By submitting Your Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process, and display it, and to generate derivative content from it (such as a tailored resume draft or an outreach email), solely to provide and improve the Service for you. We don't sell Your Content, and we don't use it to train third-party AI models unless a specific feature discloses otherwise at the point of use.

You're solely responsible for Your Content, including its accuracy. AI-assisted drafts (resume rewrites, outreach emails, signal narratives) are generated from evidence you've provided and are meant to save you time — they are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or suitable for every purpose, and you should review them before relying on or sending them.

Some actions in the Service (such as generating a tailored resume draft, revealing a contact's email, or generating outreach copy) consume credits from a balance associated with your account. New accounts receive an initial credit allotment. Additional credits are currently arranged by contacting us directly at contact@myfirstrole.ai. We may introduce paid subscription tiers, different credit pricing, or new payment methods in the future; if we do, we'll update these Terms and any applicable pricing terms before they take effect for you.

Credits have no cash value, aren't transferable between accounts, and — except where required by law — aren't refundable.

The Service integrates with third-party providers — for example, Google (Gmail) and Microsoft (Outlook) for sending and, if you opt in, checking outreach email; GitHub for read-only repository data; and AI, company-data, and communication providers that help power features like resume tailoring, hiring signals, and contact discovery. Your use of those third-party services is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We aren't responsible for third-party services, and connecting them is always your choice — you can disconnect at any time from your Profile settings.

The Service may link to external job postings, company pages, or other third-party sites. We don't control and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that any specific job outcome (an interview, an offer, a reply to outreach) will result from using it, or that hiring-signal data, company data, or AI-generated content will always be accurate or current.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MyFirstRole, LLC and its officers, employees, and agents won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or job opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) fifty US dollars ($50).

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your Profile settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if we discontinue the Service, or as otherwise reasonably necessary. On deletion, we remove your account-specific data as described in our Privacy Policy; some shared, non-personal data (such as an employer's public hiring activity) isn't tied to your account and isn't deleted with it.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll take reasonable steps to notify you (such as an in-app notice or an email) before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which MyFirstRole, LLC is incorporated and operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable local law requires otherwise.
